With four months to go before the return of the Ski Cross World Cup to Veysonnaz, preparations are already well underway. On Monday, September 28, Race Director Klaus Waldner was on site to draw lessons from the 2026 event and lay the groundwork for the 2027 course.
A benchmark edition
The day began with a review of last winter’s event with the organizing committee. The 2026 edition highlighted several strengths: a well-prepared course, improved organization, and adjustments that were praised by both the teams and the athletes.
These are strengths to build on, while keeping the course open to change. In ski cross, a course is constantly evolving. Every transition, jump and turn entry can be adjusted to improve flow and safety.
The Track in Detail
Next came a visit to the Piste de l’Ours. The inspection focused on the middle section of the course. The entry to the large off-camber turn, a signature feature of the course, will be adjusted, as will the transition between the tunnel jump and the turn just above the Tipi.
These may seem like minor details, but they matter when it comes to building a course that is spectacular, easy to navigate, and safe.
These observations will serve as the basis for the technical teams’ work when snow returns to Veysonnaz.

Looking Ahead to January
The Ski Cross World Cup will return to Veysonnaz on January 30 and 31, 2027. Two races are scheduled: Saturday, January 30, at 11 a.m., and Sunday, January 31, at 1 p.m. Qualifying rounds will take place beforehand, on January 28 and 29.
And the new features won’t be limited to sports. The spectator experience will be enhanced with a digital guide, a trip planner to make getting there easier, a new terrace in the VIP area, and more partner booths in the Tipi zone.
The course is already taking shape. So is the 2027 edition.
